This is a lovely wine. The first lush, fruity nose opens to an aroma of oak and peppers. Rich and chewy, the wine pleasantly expands on the palate. With 14.5% alcohol, this big boy has the expected long, luscious finish. Label notes: “Rich dark cherry, plum and blackberry aromas and flavors, with elegant savory tannins. … Subtle cedar and vanillan oak … contribute to the complexity.” We agree 100%.

WINE ADVOCATE: The fruit for the 2008 Limestone Coast Shiraz Cabernet is sourced from Mt. Benson, Robe, Coonawarra and Padthaway. Blended of 64% Shiraz and 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, it gives a very deep garnet purple color and pronounced blackberry and blackcurrant notes with some chocolate, mint and Mediterranean herbs. The concentrated, full bodied palate is well structured with high acidity and a medium level of grainy tannins, finishing long and fruity. Drink it now to 2014.
