Hey, kids! Check out this restaurant’s wine list: It’s the Frugal Wine Snob’s dream come true.

In Gainesville, FL, The New Deal Café is the sister (and next-door) restaurant to Mildred’s Big City Food. Mildred’s has a fairly extensive wine list and they sponsor tastings from time to time.

The New Deal Café is less expensive, yet still uses organic, locally grown food in their wonderful dishes. And the wine list, while limited compared to Mildred’s, has some excellent and educated recommendations of inexpensive high-value wines. It’s located in the shopping center at the corner of University Blvd. and 34th Street.

We enjoyed the Excelsior Shiraz last night. It was just as good as we remembered it to be.

Bon appétit!
