Raymond has been one of the Big Names in California wines for several decades. That’s because they make some Big Wines! This one is no exception.

Presenting with a dark garnet color, this delicious wine is smooth yet chewy, and VERY well balanced. With a hint of almond in the bouquet, it has a fruity, slightly jammy taste, without any of that overly sweet effect so often found in Cabs. It’s full-bodied, flavorful, and mouth-filling yet dry, with just the slightest hint of oak and smoke after remaining in the mouth for several seconds. More layers reveal black cherry, vanilla, and a hint of strawberry at the back of the palate.

VINTNER’S NOTES: The Family Classic Cabernet combines three appellations: Napa, Sonoma, and Lake County, to create a distinct flavor profile that reflects the characteristics of the separate terroirs and a complex, layered wine. 70% of the grapes come from estate vineyards or our long-time vineyard partners in Napa, 24% from Sonoma County vineyards, and 6% from Lake County. The wine is typical of its predominantly Napa origins, full-bodied and well-structured with bold tannins.

More than 130 years of family winemaking heritage has made the Raymond name synonymous with premium Cabernet. Created from select vineyards in three counties, the result is a distinctive wine with concentrated flavors of lush raspberry, cherry and blackberry.

HISTORY: Roy Raymond arrived in the Napa Valley in 1933, married Martha Jane Beringer in 1936, and enjoyed more than 35 years working in every facet of Beringer Winery. In 1970, Roy and his sons started their own winery. Their first vintage crush was in 1974, and the winery quickly earned acclaim for elegant wines with a beautiful balance of finesse, power, and complexity. In 2009, Raymond Vineyards became a part of the Boisset Family Estates collection of wineries. In February 2010, Raymond Vineyards began implementing organic and Biodynamic® farming methods in pursuit of achieving certification for its 90-acre estate vineyards in Rutherford and St Helena. WINE ENTHUSIAST: Run, don’t walk, to get this Cab at this price. It’s very rich and delicious, offering waves of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, chocolate, smoky oak and spices. Feels round and supple and soft in the mouth, making it fine for drinking now. Production was 4,400 cases.
